Small Group Progress Monitoring Tool

The Small Group Progressive Monitoring Guide was created to help middle school teachers organize their teacher-led small groups.

• Start by reviewing most recent common assessment. Create your groups based on students who aren’t proficient and those who need support in similar areas.
• Once grouped, determine how many sessions the learning objectives will require. My example required 7 sessions to cover 4 different task groups.
• Use unpacking documents to break down concepts in easy to digest chunks. Pull all worksheets, digital tools, and manipulatives you’ll need and organize for future use.
• Determine what students will be required to do while in the session and once they leave. Assess progress after each session and make changes as needed.
