Transformation Posters

This set of transformation anchor posters focuses on the following standard:

NC.8.G.2 - Use transformations to define congruence:

• Verify experimentally the properties of rotations, reflections, and translations that create congruent figures.
• Understand that a two-dimensional figure is congruent to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, and translations.  
• Given two congruent figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the congruence between them.

This resource can be used to cement learning and provide a static representation in your classroom for students to reflect upon. These images can be used as guided notes to review before an assessment. They can also be used as a part of a call and response routine that helps students recall what is needed to perform specific transformation and what happens to coordinates under each transformation. Finally, these posters, if laminated, can be used during teacher-led small groups to give students an opportunity to practice a variety of transformation sequences.
